The Sauk Archive

A private investigator named Andrew Schaefer is enlisted to look into the disappearance of Michael Sinclair and his younger brother. While cycling through a collection of films left by Michael;

Andrew discovers the unimaginable horror Michael endured while looking for his brother as the world around him started to disintegrate into the hellscape that is The Sauk Archive.

Developement History

The Sauk Archive, formerly known as “Kenopsia”, began development on the 1st of October, 2021. The creator of the game Brandon Friend wanted to convert the atmosphere of a series of recurring nightmares into a playable experience, inspiring the location of the game by the ever changing internal world that are those dreams.

The game was being solely developed by Brandon up until early 2022 after realizing the scope of the project is too large for one person to release in a timely manner. After founding Friendly Studios, LLC, he reached out to some friends to help make the game reach its full potential.

Originally starting  in the Unity game engine with a retro aesthetic reminiscent of early Playstation games, The Sauk Archive pivoted towards a high-fidelity art style as AAA technology became accessible to the team.

The game is now being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and is reaching the end of Pre-Production for the first playable tech demo, aiming to release in January of 2023.

“I’m endlessly excited to let y’all run around the world we are building, uncovering the interdimensional secrets that are littered throughout the world. I want this game to be somewhat of a spiritual successor to the Silent Hill franchise while paving a lane for itself to be expanded upon to create more enriching experiences for gamers and fans of any horror media.”
